It may be a matter of finances, as eating out is often more expensive than a having a home-cooked meal. It may be because of lack of time or opportunity to go out. But you don’t have to fret if you can’t go out to have your much loved shrimp recipes. You can actually do them yourself. Below are a couple of your favorite shrimp recipes that you can do at home.
Bubba Gump Shrimp
Forrest Gump or no Forrest Gump, Bubba Gump Shrimp would be popular for the simple fact that their shrimp recipes are to die for. While the Tom Hanks-starrer did inspire the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, the shrimp recipes are all theirs.
Half a cup of butter
One tablespoon of cayenne pepper or paprika
One tablespoon dried oregano
24 pieces large shrimp – peeled and deveined
Two tablespoons chopped garlic
Peel the shrimps and set aside the shells, heads and tails. These often discarded parts are great for making tasty shrimp stock for your other dishes. If you’re not planning to cook soups or stews just yet, pack them in a plastic container and place in the freezer until you need them.
Chop a couple of bulbs to get around two tablespoons worth of garlic
Heat the pan or skillet then add half cup of butter. This is also equivalent to a quarter of a pound. To make thing a bit easier just place one stick of butter in the pan.
As the butter melts under medium heat, add the chopped garlic. You will notice the fragrant smell.
Add cayenne pepper. If you are not a fan of its hotness, you can substitute it with paprika.
Add on table spoon of oregano. Stir together until butter is completely melted.
Add the shrimps into the pan. Let one side cook before turning them to cook the other side.
Cook until the shrimps turn pinkish, around five minutes.
Serve over toasted sour dough, bread or rice.
Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo
One of the simple yet overly tasty shrimp recipes around, the shrimp fettuccine alfredo allows you to get a taste of fine Italian cuisine in the comforts of your own home.
One pound fettuccine pasta
Two tablespoons butter
One pound shrimp – peeled and deveined
Four cloves minced garlic
1 ½ cups parmiggiano-reggiano
Two cups heavy cream
Salt and pepper
For the Pasta:
Fill a large pot with salted water and boil.
Add pasta and let it cook for eight to ten minutes or until al dente.
Drain and set aside the pasta.
For the Sauce:
Season shrimps with salt and pepper.
Melt butter in a large skillet then add garlic. Cook for about a minute.
Add shrimp and cook, stirring from time to time. Set aside shrimps.
Melt six tablespoon butter in same skillet.
Add two cups heavy cream and then two pinches nutmeg.
Add 1 ½ cups parmigiano-reggiano, mix well and wait until sauce has thickened.
Add shrimp to sauce then toss in the Fettuccine.
